I've got asparagus. Yeah!!! I just planted it and didn't expect to see any this year. I am so thrilled. I think I'm supposed to leave it alone this year, let it go dormant. I'm still excited to see that some of it has come up.
Well keep a good eye on it! We planted asparagus one year and in the middle of the night a raccoon came and dug it up and ate it! It's so sad, my poor husband has this one lone asparagus that the raccoon missed and it comes up every year. We pick the little stalks and I faithfully stir fry it into an omelet for him. :)
I orderd 2 from gurney's online. I think they sent me way more thant that. I divided the 2 bundles they sent me into 4 pots. All but one of them has asparagus coming up.
I LOVE wild asparagus. It grows wild in Colorado, and I always loved going around ditches and picking it for my mom. I didn't even know what canned asparagus tasted like until I moved to Oklahoma. I hope you get loads of it, YUMMY!
That is exciting!! I planted my first real garden this year at mom and Walt's house and when things started to come up I got so excited. I tried to plant several tomato plants that already had fruit on them but watching them isn't as exciting as watching the plants that started from scratch.
